Awls are among the basic trade goods and tools used in North America for numerous decades. These are made in the style most commonly found at French sites.

They were traded to Native Americans and used by various leather craftsmen. Awls were also issued to soldiers and canadiens volonteers and militiamen going on war parties (in Summer and Winter), so they can repair and make mocassins with the deerskins also supplied by the king.

Handmade by Steve Delisle, Maryland, who forged, ground and blued them all. Steve sacrified superficial layers of his finger skin on the grinding wheel for providing these excellent tools and accurate reproductions.
